We strive together, and continue to prosper through trials and hardships with the sun and the moon. The year of 2021 marks the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. It is a crucial juncture at which the “Two Centenary” Goals converge and the first year of the 14th Five-Year Plan. In this unusual year, thoroughly studying and applying General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important discourse of the higher education, and the deployment and the arrangement of the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial Government, Provincial Education Working Committee, Provincial Department of Education, the university coordinates the epidemic prevention and control with connotation construction, makes scientific plans for the development blueprint of the 14th Five-Year Plan, celebrates the 70th anniversary of the university, and brings all the works of the university to a new level.
Over the past year, guided by the Party’s construction, we have taken firm steps and moved forward bravely. The university promoted the study and education of Party history in an overall way, and solved the difficulties at the grass-roots level and the troubles of teachers and students with heart, emotion and strength, forming the characteristics of “Three Steps” and “Six Combinations”. The university strengthened ideological and political work, built a strong ideological main front, and advanced the construction of Party style and clean government in depth. 17 newly selected cadres stationed in the village went deep into the rural front line to continue to help rural revitalization. The university further promoted the work of “system construction year”, and continuously improved the system and evaluation system of modern universities. Constantly strengthen the construction of cadres’ work style, and the entrepreneurial atmosphere of real work and responsibility was becoming stronger and stronger.
Over the past year, we have focused on epidemic prevention and control with the firm and steady state. The Party Committee of Liaoning University of Technology led all the teachers and students to work together with one heart and one mind to build an iron wall for epidemic prevention and control. Online teaching was combined with “air classroom” to ensure that learning was not delayed. The university actively organized and launched the vaccination against COVID-19 to achieve full coverage, health reporting, punching card record and positioning, and the entry and exit approval of the university to achieve accurate and efficient prevention and control. The university created the most beautiful graduation season, presented graduation souvenir bags, held warm dumpling banquet, and sent graduation packaging. Keep love and go to the mountains and seas, your alma mater will always be the warmest harbor for graduates. Over the past year, we took building morality and cultivating people as the foundation, walked fast and steadily, and forged ahead. Two majors were approved as national first-class professional construction sites, seven majors were approved as provincial first-class majors, 52 provincial first-class undergraduate courses were approved, and 50 university-level courses were selected as ideological and political demonstration courses. Two new majors of financial engineering, emergency equipment technology and engineering began to recruit students, and the examination methods of 556 courses were reformed. The construction of ideological and political courses was well coordinated, and four ideological and political courses were approved as provincial first-class undergraduate courses. Seizing the opportunity of inter-university joint training, the first batch of junior students covering 7 colleges and 12 majors went to colleges and universities inside and outside the province for inter-university exchange and learning. Remarkable achievements have been made in the construction of student source base and employment base, and the employment rate and quality of graduates have been steadily improved.
Over the past year, driven by hard work and innovation, we have cut waves and continued to grow. The university implemented the construction of first-class academic direction and scientific and technological innovation team, approved one provincial key laboratory, successfully passed the national military standard GJB9001C quality management system certification, one person was rated as an outstanding scientific and technological worker in Liaoning Province, and one young scholar was selected into the “Yangtze River Scholar Award Program” of the Ministry of Education, realizing the historic breakthrough of our university; six people were selected as highly cited scientists in engineering and computer fields in the world in 2021, and their academic influence continued to improve. A curriculum system of “innovation and entrepreneurship and personality development curriculum” module + specialized innovation integration curriculum was built. In 2021, the university won 68 national awards and 776 provincial awards in various innovation and entrepreneurship competitions, and made new breakthroughs in key competitions.
Sharpen the tools and realize the truth for 70 years, and build a new era with one heart. In 2021, we gathered together and held a grand meeting to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the university, worked together to forge ahead and drew a blueprint for development. To establish morality and cultivate people, we must establish ourselves first; to cast soul bacon, we must cast ourselves first. Every time we face difficulties and climb the peak bravely, it reflects the sweat of the struggle of the people of Liaoning University of Technology; every time we keep moving and forge ahead, we are engraved with the hot ideal of the people of Liaoning University of Technology; every time the good news comes and the triumphant song is played, it casts the rich and unforgettable 2021 of the people of Liaoning University of Technology.
There is no end to the journey. One can be industrious without any urge. The year of 2022 will be the year of struggle again. Let us take Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as guidance, in depth study and implement the spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee and the spirit of the 13th Party Congress in Liaoning Province, make concerted effort, struggle and go forward bravely to greet the 20th CPC National Congress with honors.
